Privacy

This page is a plain-language summary. Read the full Privacy Policy, including data retention, your rights, and regional disclosures (California, EEA, UK, Switzerland).

Our commitment

Your smart home data stays on your device and in your own iCloud, never on a HomeMapper server. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal information.

What stays on your device

HomeMapper runs on your device. There are no accounts, no logins, no analytics, no ads, no tracking. Your scan results, including your discovered devices and network topology, stay on your device and are never sent to a HomeMapper server. Some of your setup, like room order, your Home Assistant connections, and your saved setup codes, syncs across your devices through your own iCloud, never through us. See iCloud Sync for what syncs and how to turn it off.

When you connect Home Assistant, HomeMapper authenticates via OAuth in a system browser sheet. We never see or store your username or password. OAuth tokens live exclusively in the iOS Keychain (encrypted, hardware-backed) and are never written to the app's database, preferences, or logs.

Apple-managed services

HomeMapper uses Apple services that fall outside our own data handling. These are managed by Apple under their privacy practices.

  • Crash reports. If you opted in to share crash data with app developers in your device settings, Apple may share anonymized crash reports with us to help improve stability. Manage this in Settings > Privacy & Security.
  • Purchases. HomeMapper Pro purchases, both the annual subscription and Lifetime Access, are processed by Apple's App Store. We never see your Apple ID, payment details, or purchase history. The app only receives a yes/no entitlement status from StoreKit, which determines whether Pro features are available.

Optional diagnostic logs

If you want help with an issue, you can send diagnostic logs from Settings.

  • Entirely voluntary. You choose when to send.
  • Sent via email. You review the contents before sending and can cancel any time.
  • May include device information. Logs can include your HomeKit and Home Assistant device names and types. Home Assistant OAuth tokens are never included.
  • Used only to improve HomeMapper. We use logs to fix the issue you reported and to improve HomeMapper, nothing else. They're kept private and secure, we may delete them once they're no longer needed, and we never share them.

Children's privacy

HomeMapper is not directed to children under 13 (United States) or under 16 (some European jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from any user, including children. Parents who do not wish their children to use the app should manage installation through Apple's Family Sharing or Screen Time controls.
